Kuwait Municipality dispatches 1,230 sanitation workers during election week

KUWAIT: Kuwait Municipality said Sunday that preparations were underway ahead of the coming parliamentary election. The municipality is getting equipment and sanitation workers ready to “show Kuwait in the best possible way during its democratic wedding,” they said in a statement to KUNA. Sanitation teams will be distributed across all governorates starting Sunday and until Wednesday to ensure cleaning work is completed at the schools designated as polling stations before students are back following the Tuesday election.

About 1,230 sanitation workers will be working across the country. Director of the Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works in Assima Governorate Saad Al-Khrinej said there is great coordination between government agencies, headed by the Ministry of Interior, the Fire Force Department, the Ministry of Justice and others, with the municipality to ensure the success of the election. He stressed the keenness of the municipality to facilitate the process for citizens and ensure the smooth flow of traffic as they enter and exit the polling stations.

The municipality has designated 360 workers, 144 containers and 22 machines at polling stations in the Assima Governorate, he added. Director of the Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works in Jahra Governorate, Mohammed Al-Jaba’a said according his department has sent 10 workers to each polling station, removed 45 abandoned cars and placed 100 warnings on others. In Hawally, Director of the Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works Faisal Al-Otaibi said 200 workers, 30 vehicles and 60 containers will be distributed to the polling stations. Director of the Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works in Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate, Fahd Al-Quraifa, said that 100 workers will be distributed to the stations.



Deputy Director General for Services Affairs and Director of the Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works in Farwaniya governorate Mishaal Al-Azmi said 200 workers will be distributed to the areas surrounding the polling stations to carry out cleaning work and remove abandoned cars. In Ahmadi, Director of the Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works Nawaf Al-Mutairi, said that 360 workers will be distributed to polling stations.

Mutairi stressed the need of media coverage meeting the expectations of the public in terms of professionalism, objectivity and impartiality in keeping with the noble values of Kuwait’s democracy. He noted that his trip aimed to encourage staff to abide by the strategy of the ministry for cementing national unity and serving society based on transparency and professionalism, the spokesman added. – KUNA
