MOH launches new dental services, targets disabled persons, elderly, bedridden

The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Dental Affairs, Dr Meshaal Al-Kandari announced the launch of new health services for the elderly and home visits for bedridden and people with disabilities, in addition to cleft palate services, stressing the Ministry’s endeavor to obtain international recognition.

Al-Kandari said, told a local Arabic daily, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 22nd session of the Dental Conference, which was organized by the Department of Dentistry at the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Dental Association and under the auspices of the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, that many international and Gulf agreements have been concluded for specialized dental programs with international hospitals and universities in America, Canada, Britain and Australia, in addition to the adoption of new local dental programs, including the orthodontic program, maxillofacial surgery and gum replacement.

President of the Medical Doctors Association, Dr. Muhammad Dashti, said participating in the conference are 1,700 doctors and 60 local and international lecturers, which includes 41 lectures and about 30 workshops, as it aims to connect dentists, exchange experiences and learn about the latest methods used for treatments in the world.

For his part, the consultant orthodontist, Dr. Mubarak Al-Saeed, said “digital orthodontics” is the future of dentistry in Kuwait and the world, pointing out that transparent orthodontics through the use of digital technology or what is known as ‘Invisalign’ is the most innovative and advanced digital technology in the world.
